About AcademicAR

Our mission

Research increasingly produces three-dimensional data — anatomical scans, molecular structures, biological specimens, archaeological artifacts, geological samples, and engineering parts. Yet most of it ends up flattened into static figures or buried in supplementary files. AcademicAR exists to make that 3D data explorable: one upload turns your model into an interactive web viewer, an augmented-reality experience, and a permanent QR code that you can place in a paper, thesis, poster, or lecture.

What we do

  • Upload anything: GLB, STL, OBJ, and FBX files are automatically converted and optimized for the web.
  • View anywhere: the viewer runs in any modern browser, with tap-to-place augmented reality on most phones and tablets — no app required.
  • Share durably: every model gets a stable QR code and short link that keep working even after you replace, recolor, or upgrade the model.
  • Stay compliant: uploading requires confirming anonymization and rights, because responsible sharing is core to academic work.

Who it's for

Researchers and PhD students enriching publications and theses; professors and educators making lectures and lab work interactive; museums and heritage institutions opening their collections; and conference presenters who want a poster that does more than sit on a wall.

Built on open standards

AcademicAR is built on glTF/GLB, USDZ, and WebXR — the same open 3D and AR standards used across the web — so your models stay portable and your readers never depend on proprietary software.
